Hi, I am Debbie, the owner of Beach Plum Kids. We are a family-run business – my husband handles the website design and maintenance and any other technical issues. He also provides encouragement and moral support when needed. Our three children serve various roles from design input to modeling to marketing (they have been known to hand out business cards to their friends, teachers, or anyone who will take one). All of the handmade items are made by me in my home in West Barnstable, Massachusetts on beautiful Cape Cod. I have also added items that I love or that I feel are helpful to families with young children. The idea for Beach Plum Kids was born in the summer of 2005, but it underwent a number of changes before it actually opened in the summer of 2006.
I have been sewing for over 30 years. Although I have done a variety of sewing from quilting to home decorating to toy making, in the last few years, I have discovered a passion for designing and sewing children's clothing. I love to create clothes and accessories that are functional and comfortable for kids to wear. And, they have to be durable and easy for moms and dads to take care of too, so I only use quality fabrics. I strive to create unique, one-of-a-kind items that children will love to wear.
